Berg Toys makes major leap forward in Turkey
Berg Toys and NXT eCOM agreed to partner in the Turkish market in 2021. The focus and mandate of NXT eCOM in year-one was to re-activate the Turkish market by scaling up local omni-channel presence and activate a growth in sales.
The launching year was 2022, in which Berg Toys would use the NXT eCOM platform to create more presence in Turkey by implementing:
- Local Import Capability
- Local Regulatory Compliance
- Local Online Sales & Marketing
- Local Distribution
NXT eCOM followed the initial plan and launched Berg Toys on two strategic online sales channels, Amazon.com.tr and eBebek.com.
The launch was a big success and the brand presence of Berg on these two strategic channels triggered the demand from other channels. Turkish consumers are internet savvy and daily users of several social media. The most used social network in 2022 was Instagram. In the third quarter of 2022 it had a 90.6 percent penetration rate.
NXT eCOM developed the Turkish Instagram community on @bergtoys_turkey to ten thousand followers by the end of 2022 and during the year ran successful influencer campaigns with prominent Turkish TV personalities like Ece Vahapoglu.
The Turkish market presence of the Dutch company that has been designing, manufacturing and selling outdoor toys since 1992, made a major leap forward, according to Victor Eveleens, head of the Turkish NXT organization. The distribution went from a dual-channel strategy to a full fledge omni-channel strategy.
‘In addition to developing our channel strategy, also product position was a driving force behind the growth in the first year’, Eveleens adds.
‘The original plan was only to cater the Turkish market with Pedal Karts and Balance Bike’s for the age group up to six years. However during the course of the year a growing demand for Berg trampolines developed and in the summer NXT eCOM launched the availability of trampolines in Turkey.’
At the end of 2022 Berg products were sold through eight channels, comprising of leading marketplaces, e-tailers and wholesale.
For 2023 Berg Toys and NXT eCOM aim to further diversify the product portfolio by adding products for the age groups 10-12 years and 12+ years, starting with trampolines for the summer and two new outdoor items. To reach the new age groups the companies plan expanding the number of sales channels with both Toy and Leisure/Outdoor stores.
