Celebrating 10 Years of NXT TRADE in Turkey
Marking a Decade of Innovation in the Turkish Market
We are thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of NXT TRADE’s operations in Turkey. A decade ago, our founder, Michael Westenberg, launched the first sourcing, shipping, and sales operations for European partners in the Turkish market. This initiative has evolved into the NXT Multi-Market Distribution (MMD) Platform, now with a presence in four economic regions and a reach into over 30 markets.
A Vision Realized
In 2013, Michael Westenberg and Paul Daily, Managing Director of the Irish Casings Company (ICC), forged a groundbreaking partnership to introduce innovative solutions to the Turkish market. Utilizing the NXT TRADE trading house in Turkey, ICC pioneered in procuring, repacking, exporting, and shipping meat offal products from Turkish meat processing companies to various destinations in Africa and Asia.
That same year, Van Dijk Flora, a company within the Dutch Flower Group, began using the NXT TRADE trading house in Istanbul. This partnership enabled the compliant import from the Netherlands and distribution of fresh flowers and pot plants to the Turkish discount retailer A101.
Reflections and Future Vision
Reflecting on this journey, Michael Westenberg says “I always had this vision of creating a distribution organization that would add value to the value-chain of any brand or manufacturer. Today, I am incredibly grateful that large SMEs like ICC and the Dutch Flower Group entrusted us with managing their value chain in the Turkish market. These initial partnerships were a clear indication that we were onto something new and innovative. I cherish the past because it allowed me to build our international Multi-Market Distribution Platform and develop our Future Value Creation capability, demonstrating that real value is created by eliminating obsolete middlemen from the value chain and charging trading services for the activities performed and value created.”
